Admission to the International Development Program

Hello,

Today, I’m sharing with you the “narrative story” — The Storytelling — of my journey, which I used as a cover letter for my application to the university program in international development. This letter also serves as a presentation document for the NFOYOO / Info-Jeunes International project.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to submit my application for admission to your International Development program.

Allow me to begin by briefly summarizing my life story, as it deeply explains the interest and importance I place on this program.

Born into a family of three children, I did not have an easy adolescence. Placed in foster care during my youth, I ran away several times, which eventually led me to live on the streets.

This difficult period in my life quickly confronted me with a crucial reality: it is extremely difficult for a young person in distress to find the necessary resources to get their life back on track. Over time, despite the obstacles, I managed to rebuild my life. A few years later, I obtained my high school equivalency diploma while working various jobs. However, deep down, an idea continued to grow within me. I dreamed of creating a project that could help young people facing similar challenges to my own, so they too could find hope and stability.

That’s how Info-Jeunes Plus was born in 1999. After several years dedicated to building a resource directory and establishing various community projects—including a community kitchen—the organization evolved into Info-Jeunes Canada.

Over the years, the project grew. More and more young people began using our services, and the resource directory gradually expanded beyond Quebec to reach all of Canada.

Today, more than twenty years later, this project continues to inspire me and fuel my dreams more than ever. My ambition now is to take it to the next level: international aid.

Info-Jeunes’ mission truly knows no borders. All over the world, young people face difficult realities and need support, a listening ear, and accessible resources. I have already begun compiling a list of various resources across several continents, including support organizations and potential partners with whom Info-Jeunes could collaborate internationally.

I am convinced that your program of study would allow me to acquire the knowledge, tools, and open-mindedness necessary to realize this vision and overcome any obstacles that might stand in the way of my ambitions.

Hoping that this letter demonstrates my motivation and the seriousness of my approach, please accept, Madam/Sir, my most distinguished greetings.

Emanuel
